9-Year-Old Acupuncture Patient: It ‘Feels Like a Little Pinch’

Whistle while you work — or, in 9-year-old Cody’s case, while you get acupuncture treatment.

The boy is a patient at Oriental Wellness Center & Spa in Pewaukee, and visits the facility for regular acupuncture treatments as part of a recovery effort after suffering a brain injury brought on by a diabetic coma. Though doctors had no hope for recovery after the episode, Cody’s brother Tucker recalls his mother believing otherwise.

“The doctor said that he was not going to make any improvement. Mom said, ‘No, we’re not going to let that happen,'” Tucker said. It took only a week of treatments at Oriental Wellness Center & Spa before Cody showed improvement, his mom said.
