Massage comes in all shapes and sizes, with popular methods such as deep tissue and Swedish massage often conjuring up visions of a linen-covered bed table, massage oils and a candle-lit room.
While Oriental Wellness Center offers these types of massage, the spa also has a number of more unique methods, such as Thai Massage. The practice uses no oils or lotions, and the recipient remains clothed during a treatment wearing lose fitted clothes. Instead of rubbing the muscles, the body is pulled, rocked, compressed and stressed in an effort to clear energy blockages and relieve tension.
Curiosity peaked? OWC will host demonstrations of the massage during its open house on Nov. 16.
The open house will run from 1 to 4 p.m., and the center’s staff will be available to answer questions about its services, according to owner Phebe Purnell. There will also be free refreshments.
Thai Massage isn’t the only experience awaiting at the open house, as demonstrations of Qi Gong exercises will also be part of the event. Qi Gong exercises are one of the more commonly practiced ancient Chinese methods, and are used to improve blood circulation and promote healthier organs. OWC holds Qi Gong classes on select Saturdays.
Discounts on products and services, ranging from 10 to 75 percent, will also be offered during the Nov. 16 open house. The spa is located at W240N3425 Pewaukee Rd., Pewaukee, WI.
